I created my blog about 5 years ago - in 2003, a time when Malaysian politicians hardly knew the word "blog". A time when blogging could potentially risk you your job and gets you fired. A time when geeks found a new secret way to communicate to the world.
I started blogging actively since 2004, almost everyday. Sometimes even few times a day. It was a secret little world that I shared with strangers, not with people I know. I have made friends all around the world through my blog. We exchange news and thoughts through our blogs and through emails. It was good, because most of the people I've met are bloggers themselves, which means they have their own independent mind. They see my blog posts as an expression of my thoughts, rather than taking it personally and attacking me.
I do track who reads my blog, from where they are from, what they read, and how many times they read something. It's weird to know some people read the same post over and over again. Strangely though, most of these people are not strangers but people I know in my real life! And how they manage to get to my blog? I don't know, honestly.
As much as I would like to restrict access to my blog, I still want to let strangers to stumble upon it and submerge themselves in my little world-weird-web. The reason being, I came to realize people around my real life they don't really know me, despite having access to vast collection of life's diary in my blog. Yesterday, was the day that thought me this lesson. It was not a pleasant feeling, for sure.
So, I have moved my blog to a different location, which I think (or hope?) even Google won't know. I will keep blogging, I will keep making new friends every day, and I will keep expressing my thoughts. But chances are, you have to find a needle in the sea if you would like to find the new site.
I'm off to bake chocolate cake for my Honey.
